“Children learn from anything and everything they see. They learn wherever they are, not just in special learning places"

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL

Welcome back to school, at least the start of the new term. I hope you had a good Easter break and that you are all surviving, even enjoying this period of enforced lockdown. We may have lost some of our freedom but it is an opportunity to reset our family priorities without the pressures of normal life. In a recent UK survey only 9% of those sampled said they wanted to return fully to their lifestyle before the lockdown. Having time to work alongside our children can be extremely rewarding. We are living in strange times and having to adapt to the new normal, finding novel ways of carrying on with our lives.

This challenge is true of education where schools are trialling new ways of teaching and parents are having to keep their children occupied all day, especially if they live in accommodation with no outside space. Modern technology, especially TV and the internet, is helping find us interesting and fun ways of learning and is perhaps a glimpse of how education will develop in the future.

Home Learning

With at least one week more of lockdown and realistically further extensions, we at Heritage House are taking our educational provision online. You have all received a timetable for Zoom lessons and of course your children are all registered on Google Classroom. Our aim is to deliver the curriculum as we would in class but remotely.

To watch the recording of our seminar on “Home schooling the child during lockdown: Parent & Teacher collaboration” led by Mrs Somoye, Head of our Jibowu campus, click here. I am sure it will be fascinating and informative.

Thank you for all your cooperation so far and in the future, it is greatly appreciated.
